CARELESS USE OF FIREARM

Cornwall, ON – A 56-year-old man from Ingleside was arrested on Sept. 18, 2026, and charged with two counts of careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition. On Sept. 17, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service were investigating an occurrence when they observed a firearm and ammunition that were allegedly not properly secured. As a result, officers developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Sept. 18, 2026, he was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 18, 2026, and charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. On Sept. 18, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to a local high school in relation to a weapons call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was in possession of knives, a pellet gun and a mask. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.

UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 18, 2026, and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. In the early morning hours of Sept. 18, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a threats complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth threatened to kill the staff at a local agency. He was subsequently located, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.  

THEFT, FAIL TO COMPLY, OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 18, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Theft under $5,000
• Fail to comply with probation order
• Two counts of operation while prohibited

It is alleged on Aug. 16, 2026, the man stole two propane tanks. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest.

It is also alleged on Sept. 18, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he was operating a power-assisted bicycle while prohibited from driving due to a suspended driver’s licence and driving disqualification. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 27, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old woman from Lancaster was arrested on Sept. 19, 2026, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on July 28, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Patrol Support Unit officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.

It is also alleged on Aug. 15, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were once again developed for her arrest.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 19, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on Sept. 19, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). In the early morning hours of Sept. 19, 2026, police were dispatched to a Brookdale Avenue business for an unwanted person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located by police and the investigation revealed he was allegedly operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 13, 2026.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 19, 2026, and charged with breach of recognizance and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Sept. 19, 2026, the man was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on Nov. 3, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 19, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on July 8, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Sept. 19, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

DANGEROUS OPERATION CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 19, 2026, and charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm. On Sept. 19, 2026, at approximately 11 a.m., CPS officers were dispatched to the intersection of Pitt Street and Ninth Street for a motor vehicle collision, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged the woman was operating her motor vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public when she struck a pedestrian, causing injuries. The pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 27, 2026.

The CPS is asking anyone who may have dashcam footage of a black Nissan Murano travelling southbound on Pitt Street between Thirteenth Street and Ninth Street around 11 a.m. to contact Cst. Banville at 613-933-5000, ext. 2789.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 20, 2026, and charged with operation while prohibited. In the early morning hours of Sept. 20, 2026, a CPS officer initiated a traffic stop and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so as a result of a previous impaired operation charge. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Nov. 3, 2026.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 20, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Fail to comply with undertaking
• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Sept. 20, 2026, a CPS officer initiated a traffic stop and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not be in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle with alcohol in his body. It is further alleged he was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was additionally charged with several Highway Traffic Act violations. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

POLICE SEEK VIDEO IN SOUTH BRANCH ROAD THEFT

Cornwall, ON – The CPS is investigating a theft which occurred from a local business on South Branch Road on Sept. 14, 2026. Police are asking anyone with video footage from South Branch Road between McConnell Avenue and Boundary Road, between the hours of 1 and 3 a.m., to contact Cst. Irving at 613-933-5000 ext. 2776.
