ABANDONING CHILD

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with abandoning child. On Sept. 6, 2026, a member of the Cornwall Police Service was dispatched to a welfare check regarding a child, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman unlawfully abandoned her child who was under the age of 10 years and did thereby endanger its life. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest. On Sept. 10, 2026, the woman was located by CPS officers. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 10, 2026.

POSSESSION/DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION MATERIAL

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• Access any child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• Distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material

On May 14, 2026, a detective with the CPS Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit began an investigation in regard to child sexual abuse and exploitation material. The investigation revealed the man allegedly possessed and accessed child sexual abuse and exploitation material, specifically images, and distributed child sexual abuse and exploitation material. As a result, the CPS detective developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Sept. 10, 2026, the man was located by CPS officers. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, INVITATION TO SEXUAL TOUCHING UNDER 16 YEARS, SEXUAL ASSAULT ON PERSON UNDER 16 YEARS, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

On June 7, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to an assault complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman assaulted her boyfriend, who was under the age of 16. Further investigation revealed that between Feb. 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026, she allegedly invited a person under the age of 16 to touch their body for a sexual purpose, touched the person under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose and committed a sexual assault on the individual.

As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of:

• Domestic assault
• Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
• Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
• Sexual interference

On Sept. 10, 2026, she was located by a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad and turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed and the woman was later released to appear in court on Sept. 29, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT OF CREDIT CARD, FRAUD, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

On April 13, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to a theft incident and an investigation ensued. The complainant reported that on April 12, 2025, his motor vehicle was broken into, and several items were stolen, including his wallet. It is alleged on this date, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged she stole credit cards and fraudulently used them for purchases.

A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest on the charges of:

• Fail to comply with probation order
• Two counts of theft of credit card
• Two counts of fraud under $5,000
• Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

On Sept. 10, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. The woman was located and taken into police custody. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 5, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Patrol Support Unit officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest. On Sept. 10, 2026, police were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint, and an investigation ensued. He was located and taken into police custody. The man was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting. It is alleged on Aug. 31, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. Reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Sept. 10, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was conducting general patrol in the City of Cornwall. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO RESIST ARREST, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – On Sept. 10, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a Water Street East business in regard to a theft in progress. As a result of the investigation, two individuals were apprehended by police.  

A 36-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and assault with intent to resist arrest. It is alleged on this date, the woman attended the Water Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged she assaulted a Loss Prevention Officer at the business with the intent to avoid arrest.

Meanwhile, a 47-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and assault with intent to resist arrest. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business.

The individuals were located by CPS officers, taken into custody and charged accordingly. They were later released to each appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, and charged with breach of recognizance and assault. On Sept. 10, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to an assault complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged she punched and kicked her mother. The youth was subsequently located by police and taken into custody. She was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and released to appear in court at a later date.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 10, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on July 16, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of failure to attend court while on release order. On Sept. 10, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and he was held in custody for a bail hearing.
