WARRANT, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – Shelley Champagne, 51, of Cornwall, was arrested on Nov. 27, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with assault a peace officer. It is alleged on Sept. 24, 2024, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Nov. 27, 2024, the woman was located by a member of the CPS who was on general patrol. While in police custody, the woman allegedly bit the officer. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Nov. 27, 2024, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on Nov. 26, 2024, the youth threatened to slit the throat of an individual known to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Nov. 27, 2024, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Cody Hyatt, 31, of Cornwall, was arrested on Nov. 27, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Jan. 18, 2024, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not associate or communicate with a specific individual. It is also alleged on this date, the man was in contact with the individual he was prohibited from communicating with. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Nov. 27, 2024, the man was located by police who were dealing with a separate matter. The warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court on Jan. 9, 2025.

There were 44 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8 a.m. yesterday to 8 a.m. today). CPS reserves the right to not post all calls for service in order to protect the identity of the victims.
