ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 22, 2025, and charged with assault. It is alleged on May 16, 2025, the woman punched an individual known to her in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 29, 2025, the woman attended the Cornwall Police Service to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 29, 2025.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 22, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on May 14, 2025, the woman was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not communicate with her ex-boyfriend. It is also alleged on this date, she called her ex-boyfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 22, 2025, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED, DANGEROUS OPERATION, FAIL TO STOP AFTER ACCIDENT

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 22, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Operation while prohibited
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to stop after accident

It is alleged on June 27, 2024, the man operated a motor vehicle while prohibited, drove in a dangerous manner, and was involved in a collision. He subsequently fled the scene of the crash. Police were contacted and a lengthy investigation ensued. On May 22, 2025, the man was located at the courthouse. He was charged accordingly and left in the custody of the courts.

WARRANTS, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 22, 2025, on the strength of outstanding warrants and charged with fail to attend court as well as eight counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged:

  • On April 9, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
  • On April 14, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
  • On April 17, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
  • On April 21, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On May 1, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • On May 11, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On May 12, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • On May 13, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On May 22, 2025, police were dispatched to a Ninth Street East business for a theft incident and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. He was, however, apprehended by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business and subsequently taken into police custody. The warrants were executed, the man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 22, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Jan. 23, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 22, 2025, the man was located by members of the CPS. The warrant was executed, and he was held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 22, 2025, and charged with domestic assault. On May 22, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence incident and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his spouse. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on June 6, 2025.

MISCHIEF, BREAK AND ENTER, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old woman from St. Regis, QC, was arrested on May 22, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Break and enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Domestic assault with a weapon

It is alleged on May 22, 2025, the woman attended her ex-boyfriend’s residence, damaged his property while breaking into the house and threw an object at the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Later, the woman was taken into custody by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service on another matter and subsequently turned over to the CPS. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.  

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 60 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8 a.m. yesterday to 8 a.m. today).
