Media Release - March 31, 2025

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 61-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 28, 2025, and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on March 28, 2025, the man assaulted his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on April 15, 2025.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 28, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Oct. 9, 2024, the man was scheduled to report to the bail supervisor program and failed to do so. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. On March 28, 2025, the man was located at the courthouse. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 28, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 31, 2024, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On March 28, 2025, members of the Cornwall Police Service responded to a disturbance complaint and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, the warrant was executed and she was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 28, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on March 24, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 28, 2025, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 1, 2025.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 28, 2025, and charged with four counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on Feb. 28, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. 

It is also alleged on March 5, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. 

It is alleged on March 11, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  

It is also alleged on March 25, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. 

On March 28, 2025, the man was located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 22, 2025.

THEFT, OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 29, 2025, and charged with theft under $5,000 and obstruct peace officer. It is alleged on March 25, 2025, the woman stole an Amazon package from an individual’s residence. It is also alleged on this date, she gave police a false name. On March 29, 2025, the woman was located by a CPS officer who was on general patrol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 1, 2025.

FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT OF CREDIT CARD, FRAUD, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 29, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Theft of credit card
  • Four counts of fraud under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

On March 29, 2025, police responded to a fraud complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on March 26, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he stole an individual’s credit card and fraudulently used it for four separate transactions. On March 29, 2025, the man was located by a member of the CPS. Further investigation revealed he was allegedly in possession of the stolen card. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 29, 2025, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on March 28, 2025, the man attended a McConnell Avenue business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 29, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to a Second Street East business and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on May 6, 2025.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 29, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on March 28, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a McConnell Avenue business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 29, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to a Second Street East business and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was released to appear in court on May 6, 2025.

FAIL TO COMPLY, UNLAWFULLY IN DWELLING HOUSE, SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 29, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Unlawfully in dwelling house
  • Sexual assault

It is alleged on March 24, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he broke into his sister’s residence and sexually assaulted her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 29, 2025, the man was located by a member of the CPS. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 30, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter a dwelling house – commit indictable offence
  • Break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief under $5,000

It is alleged on March 30, 2025, the man broke into the residence of an individual known to him with a baseball bat. It is also alleged he damaged property in the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Later on March 30, 2025, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 138 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
