SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on July 14, 2026, and Aug. 2, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

It is further alleged on Aug. 25, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

Later on Aug. 25, 2026, he attended the Cornwall Police Service to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 12-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 26, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. Late on Aug. 25, 2026, a Cornwall Police Service officer was dispatched to investigate a bail violation complaint. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not attend the residence of a specific individual and to be in his own residence by 9 p.m. It is further alleged he attended the prohibited residence and breached his curfew condition. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 26, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 26, 2026, and charged with four counts of fail to comply with probation order and two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on Aug. 16, 2026, and Aug. 17, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Marlborough Street business. It is further alleged that in the early morning hours of Aug. 16, 2026, and again on Aug. 17, 2026, the woman attended the Marlborough Street business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.

On Aug. 26, 2026, the woman was located by a probation officer, who contacted the CPS. She was subsequently taken into police custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING, MISCHIEF, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 26, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Assault

On Aug. 26, 2026, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged he assaulted a Loss Prevention Officer and damaged property at the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.

Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on Sept. 6, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 26, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. On Aug. 26, 2026, the woman attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, POSSESSION OF FIREARM CONTRARY TO PROHIBITION ORDER

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man from Alexandria was arrested on Aug. 26, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order. It is alleged on Aug. 26, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess any weapons. He was also allegedly bound by a prohibition order with the relevant condition to not possess any prohibited weapons. It is further alleged the man was in possession of brass knuckles. He was taken into custody by Canada Border Services Agency officers and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The man was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.
