SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Aug. 25, 2026, the woman attended a McConnell Avenue business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located by a Cornwall Police Service officer, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants.

It is alleged from May 8, 2026, to May 19, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to notify the court or probation officer in advance of any change of name or address and promptly notify the court or the probation officer of any change of employment or occupation, to report in person to a probation officer within 24 hours of her release from custody and after that, at all times and places as directed by the probation officer or any person authorized to assist in her supervision. It is also alleged she breached these conditions and a warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest on the charges of six counts of fail to comply with probation order.

It is further alleged on May 25, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of failure to attend court while on a release order.

On Aug. 25, 2026, the woman was located at the courthouse. The warrants were executed and she was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Fail to comply with undertaking
  • Theft under $5,000

On Aug. 17, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to a Pitt Street business to investigate a theft complaint. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as an undertaking with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Pitt Street business. It is further alleged on this date, he attended the Pitt Street business he was prohibited from visiting and stole an individual’s e-bike outside the store. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest.

On Aug. 25, 2026, he was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. A foot pursuit ensued before the man was eventually apprehended by members of the CPS. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, and charged with five counts of fail to comply with probation order. On July 21, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to investigate a breach of conditions complaint in relation to an intimate partner violence matter. It is alleged on May 10, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-girlfriend, as well as a third probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man was in communication with his ex-girlfriend via email. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 25, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was investigating an unrelated matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, and charged with two counts of break and enter a place – commit indictable offence. On Aug. 20, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to a Water Street West establishment to investigate a break and enter. It is alleged in the early morning hours of Aug. 20, 2026, the youth broke into the establishment, causing damage and stealing several items. It is further alleged that later on the morning of Aug. 20, 2026, he returned to the establishment to steal additional items. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 25, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.

THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000. On Aug. 25, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to investigate a theft. It is alleged on this date, the woman entered an individual’s home and stole a purse. The woman was subsequently located and taken into police custody. She was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 14, 2026.
