YOUTH CHARGED IN CHILD EXPLOITATION MATERIAL INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 24, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Make sexually explicit material available to a person under 18 years of age

On Feb. 23, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service began investigating a complaint involving the distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material at a high school in the City of Cornwall. It is alleged in February 2026, the youth was in possession of and distributed child sexual abuse and exploitation material, sharing a nude image of a person under the age of 18 with other individuals.

As a result of the investigation, a CPS detective in the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest.

On Aug. 24, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 24, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Sept. 27, 2025, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. On Aug. 24, 2026, the woman was located by police at the courthouse. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 24, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on July 11, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Aug. 24, 2026, the woman was located at the courthouse. She was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 24, 2026, on the strength of several outstanding warrants and additionally charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on April 19, 2026, April 22, 2026, April 23, 2026, May 3, 2026, May 4, 2026, June 18, 2026, June 20, 2026, June 23, 2026, July 8, 2026, and July 13, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and investigations ensued. Warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest on the charges of 10 counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is further alleged on May 4, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the bail supervisor program. He failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with release order.

On Aug. 24, 2026, a member of the CPS was dispatched to a Ninth Street East business, where a Loss Prevention Officer had a man in custody in relation to a theft. It is alleged on this date, the man attended two separate Ninth Street East businesses, selected merchandise and exited the stores without making any attempt to pay for the items. He was taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrants were executed, the man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 61-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 24, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Aug. 24, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 24, 2026, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Aug. 24, 2026, the woman slapped an individual known to her in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on Oct. 6, 2026.  

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 25, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged from Feb. 28, 2023, to May 14, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to make restitution to a corporation and to report in person to a probation officer. It is further alleged he failed to abide by these conditions, and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order. In the early morning hours of Aug. 25, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was investigating an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
