FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on April 8, 2026, and charged with 14 counts of fail to comply with probation order and four counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. 

It is alleged on Feb. 5, 2026, the man was bound by three separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, he attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

It is alleged on March 7, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not attend a Second Street East business, as well as three separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended the Second Street East business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

It is alleged on March 23, 2026, the man was bound by three separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, he attended a Thirteenth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

On April 8, 2026, Cornwall Police Service officers were dispatched to another Second Street East business in relation to a shoplifting incident, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not attend a Second Street East business, as well as three separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended the Second Street East business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. The man was taken into custody by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business and subsequently turned over to CPS officers. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 7, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 8, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on March 27, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared. On April 8, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and she was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 8, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
  • Assault a peace officer

It is alleged on April 8, 2026, the man was bound by three separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged the man assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business. Police were called and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on May 7, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, SEXUAL ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 8, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Sexual assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle

It is alleged on April 8, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man choked his girlfriend. Further investigation revealed he allegedly previously sexually assaulted the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.
