Media release - oct. 17, 2025

MISCHIEF, FAIL TO COMPLY, FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 15, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Four counts of fail to comply with undertaking
  • Fraud under $5,000

It is alleged on Sept. 24, 2025, the woman damaged the property of an individual known to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On Oct. 6, 2025, a member of the Cornwall Police Service was dispatched to a police information call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged the woman was twice bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with a specific individual and to not attend his residence. Furthermore, it is alleged the woman was in communication with the individual she was prohibited from contacting, attended his residence and extorted the man for money. As a result of the investigation, police formed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest.

On Oct. 15, 2025, the woman was located by a member of the CPS. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Nov. 27, 2025.

FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO RESIST ARREST

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Thunder Bay, ON, was arrested on Oct. 15, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Five counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Two counts of assault
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest

It is alleged on July 17, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he assaulted his girlfriend and damaged her property. Furthermore, it is alleged on Aug. 18, 2025, the man was once again bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he once again assaulted the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Further investigation revealed the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to notify the court or probation officer in advance of any change of address. He failed to do so.

It is alleged on Sept. 22, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

Finally, it is alleged on Oct. 15, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged he assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On Oct. 15, 2025, the man was located by a member of the CPS. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Apple Hill, ON, was arrested on Oct. 15, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with probation order. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not be within 100 metres of anywhere his ex-girlfriend is known to live, work, go to school or frequent. It is also alleged on this date, the youth was in breach of his probation order by being within 100 metres of his ex-girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was located by a member of the CPS. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He was subsequently released to appear in court at a later date.  

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 52-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 16, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Domestic assault
  • Domestic assault with a weapon

On Sept. 28, 2025, a CPS officer was dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man struck his ex-spouse. Further investigation revealed on Sept. 26, 2025, the man was allegedly bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code. It is alleged on this date, while in the complainant’s bedroom, the man made a stabbing motion with an edged weapon. Police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.

On Oct. 16, 2025, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 16, 2025, and charged with three counts of assault. On Oct. 14, 2025, a member of the CPS received an assault, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on Oct. 4, 2025, the youth assaulted an individual known to him. It is also alleged on Oct. 10, 2025, the youth assaulted two individuals known to him. Police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Oct. 16, 2025, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

WARRANT, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old man from Brighton, ON, was arrested on Oct. 16, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Dec. 9, 2019, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the item. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for the man’s arrest. On Oct. 16, 2025, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed, the man was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Nov. 27, 2025.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY, BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 16, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to comply with probation order and two counts of break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence.

It is alleged on June 27, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man broke into his ex-spouse’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On Oct. 16, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man kicked down his ex-spouse’s door and entered her residence. He was subsequently located by a CPS officer. The warrant was executed, the man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 16, 2025, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Sept. 16, 2025, the man attended a McConnell Avenue business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Oct. 16, 2025, the man was located at the courthouse. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Nov. 18, 2025.  

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 16, 2025, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. On the evening of Oct. 16, 2025, a CPS officer observed a motor vehicle travelling in the area of Sydney Street without functioning taillights, and a traffic stop was subsequently conducted. The ensuing investigation revealed the man was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Nov. 13, 2025.  

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 141 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 48 hours (8 a.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. today).
