MAN FACES CHARGES IN RELATION TO THEFT AT LOCAL BANK

Cornwall, ON – On Sept. 3, 2025, members of the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) responded to a report of a robbery in progress in the area of Pitt Street and Ninth Street. The suspect was quickly apprehended by police.

A 45-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
  • Causing a disturbance

It is alleged on Sept. 3, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he attended a bank shortly after 5 p.m., demanded money from the teller in an aggressive manner, and fled after committing the offences.

Police were contacted, and an investigation ensued.

Members of the CPS – including patrol officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division – were quickly on scene to gather evidence and interview several witnesses.

The male suspect was subsequently located nearby within minutes of the incident. The investigation also revealed he was in possession of the stolen currency.

The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
