CPS INTRODUCES OLIVER
CPS INTRODUCES OLIVER
Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) is proud to introduce its newest member: Accredited Facility Dog, Oliver.
The nearly two-year-old Labrador-Golden Retriever mix was recently sworn in at the CPS.
Oliver joins us from National Service Dogs (NSD), one of Canada’s premiere service dog providers. Oliver completed nearly two years of training with NSD staff and volunteers. His training included puppy classes (etiquette and manners), career assessment and completion of the 800-hour Canine Assisted Intervention Program.
In May, longtime CPS Accredited Facility Dog, Joy officially retired.
Oliver’s main role at the CPS is to support individuals impacted by violence, trauma and high-stress situations. He brings a gentle and calming presence while on-duty.
Off-duty, Oliver is a goofy character who loves swimming, finding sticks, stealing shoes and his all-time favourite activity of cuddling.
His handlers are Kia Marin, Crime Data Analyst, and D/Cst. Kelly Zeran of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit.
The CPS would like to thank NSD for this beautiful soul, who will undoubtedly impact the lives of many. For more information about NSD please visit: https://nsd.on.ca/.
