THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Lise Dufresne, 56, of Cornwall was arrested on March 10th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on January 22nd, 2023, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 10th, 2023, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 20th, 2023.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 11th, 2023 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation with another youth known to her on March 8th, 2023, she assaulted the youth and police were contacted to investigate. On March 11th, 2023, the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Michael Hart, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on March 11th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on March 11th, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 20th, 2023.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Brill Trudeau, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on March 12th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. He was also charged with breach of release order for failing to abide by his curfew. It is alleged on January 28th, 2023, the man pointed a firearm at someone known to him and made threats to harm the victim. He is further alleged to have breached his release order conditions by contacting a certain person, being within a certain distance of them, possessing a weapon, being outside of his residence with alcohol in his body and for leaving his residence. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 12th, 2023, the man was located in breach of his conditions. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Anthony Flammia, 57, of Cornwall was arrested on March 12th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance. It is alleged on March 11th, 2023, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 12th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 20th, 2023.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 12th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on March 12th, 2023, the woman assaulted her boyfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 4th, 2023. The name of the woman was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – Garry Barstch, 50, of Cornwall was arrested on March 12th, 2023 and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. It is alleged on December 23rd, 2022, the man threatened to harm someone known to him while brandishing a knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 12th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 25th, 2023.

SECOND MAN ARRESTED IN NINTH STREET ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – A second man has been arrested in relation to an ongoing investigation involving a robbery on March 8th, 2023. It is alleged on March 8th, 2023, the man had been driving a motor vehicle when the vehicle pulled up beside a victim who was walking through a parking lot in the 200 block of Ninth Street. The driver of the vehicle, while wearing a disguise to conceal his face, demanded the victim’s property and pointed a handgun at him. The victim’s property was obtained and the vehicle subsequently fled the area. The man is also alleged to have pointed the firearm at someone known to him prior to the robbery taking place.

Peter Martin, 21, of Cornwall was charged with the following:

  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Disguise with intent
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence
  • Handle firearm in a careless manner
  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Breach of prohibition order

On March 12th, 2023, a member of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service took the man into custody. He was transported to the Cornwall Police Service, charged accordingly and held in custody to await a bail hearing.
