WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Jessica Szalai, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on November 28th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. She was also charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on August 23rd, 2022, the woman failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. It is further alleged on November 28th, 2022, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 12th, 2023.

TWO WOMEN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

Cornwall, ON – Nathalie Lavigne, 32, and Mercedes Lague, 27, both of Cornwall, were arrested on November 28th, 2022 and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance, being methamphetamine. Mercedes Lague was also charged with breach of release order for failing to remain in her residence. It is alleged on November 28th, 2022, the women were located in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine during a traffic stop. Both women were subsequently taken into custody and charged accordingly. Nathalie Lavigne was released to appear in court on January 12th, 2023 and Mercedes Lague was held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 29th, 2022 and charged with domestic assault and uttering threats. It is alleged during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on November 29th, the man assaulted her and made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 20th, 2022. The name of the man was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Michelle David, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on November 29th, 2022 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged on February 23rd, 2022, the woman failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and further failed to attend court on April 14th, 2022 for a fraud offence. It is further alleged on September 10th, 2022, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for her arrest. During a traffic stop on November 29th, 2022 the woman allegedly used a false name to identify to police. She was charged accordingly and the warrants were executed. The woman was held in custody to await a bail hearing.
