BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 49-year-old man of Akwesasne was arrested on May 12th, 2022, and charged with breaching his release order. The man is bound by a release order with conditions to not  contact his ex-girlfriend or be any place she may be. It is alleged that on May 12th, 2022, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and police were contacted. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it could identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH, POSESSION OF SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Strome, 39, of Cornwall, was arrested on May 12th, 2022, and charged with breaching his prohibition order and possession of a Schedule I substance. On May 12th, 2022, police responded to a weapons complaint, observing the man to be allegedly in possession of a BB gun, despite his conditions. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 23, 2022.

POSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, OBSTRUCT POLICE, BREACH OF RELEASE ORDER

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth of Mississippi Mills, as well as a 16-year-old and 17–year-old youth from Ottawa, were arrested on May 12th, 2022 and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. It is alleged during a traffic stop on May 12, 2022, three youths were observed in possession of a stolen vehicle. During the investigation, the 17-year-old youth provided a false name to police and the 16-year-old was observed in possession of an edged weapon, despite conditions to not possess any weapons. The three youths were subsequently taken into custody and charged as follows:

15-year-old youth:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Breach of Release Order (for possessing a weapon)

The youth was held for a bail hearing.

16-year-old youth:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.

17-year-old youth:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Obstruct police

The youth was held for a bail hearing.

Their identities were not released under the provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 12th, 2022, and charged with assault. It is alleged that on May 12th, 2022, the man struck his girlfriend. Police were contacted and the man was subsequently taken into custody, charged accordingly, and was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it could identify the victim in this matter.
