Media Release - Sept. 6, 2024

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Sept. 3, 2024, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not communicate directly or indirectly with his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged on this date, the man communicated with his ex-girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 5, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Eric Bourgon, 41, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Aug. 2, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Sept. 5, 2024, the man was located by police at the courthouse. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Four counts of fail to comply with undertaking
  • Domestic assault causing bodily harm
  • Five counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm - domestic

It is alleged on Aug. 31, 2024, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with his ex-girlfriend, to not attend or be within 100 metres of her person, place of residence, employment or any place she may be, to not attend her address and to notify the CPS of any change of address within 24 hours. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and punched her in the face, causing injuries. Furthermore, it is alleged, he made threats to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family members. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The investigation also revealed the man was not living at his last-known address and failed to notify police of this change. On Sept. 5, 2024, the man was located at the courthouse. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victims in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Tyler Renshaw-Smith, 31, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with two counts of fail to comply with a probation order. It is alleged between Feb. 15, 2024, and July 22, 2024, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to report in person to a probation officer immediately after release from custody and after that, at all times and places as directed by the probation officer and to report in person to a probation officer within two working days. He failed to do so and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Sept. 5, 2024, the man was located at the courthouse. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, FAIL TO ATTEND, MISCHIEF, THEFT, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, UTTERING THREATS, RESIST PEACE OFFICER, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – Austin Perralte, 27, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, on the strength of outstanding warrants and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to attend court while on release order
  • Mischief - obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Criminal harassment - repeatedly communicate
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Resist peace officer
  • Assault peace officer

It is alleged on July 29, 2024, the individual was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the bail supervisor in person. They failed to do so and a warrant was issued for their arrest.

It is also alleged on Aug. 20, 2024, the individual was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for their arrest.

Furthermore, it is alleged on Aug. 29, 2024, the individual was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not associate or communicate in any way with two specific individuals. It is also alleged on this date, the individual communicated with the two specific people they were prohibited from contacting. Police were called and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for the individual’s arrest.

On Sept. 4, 2024, police responded to a harassment complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged the individual interfered with their neighbour's lawful use, enjoyment and operation of property, stole items from their neighbour, repeatedly communicated with their neighbour and made threats to harm an individual. A warrant was issued for their arrest.

On Sept. 5, 2024, the individual was located by police. While being taken into custody, it is alleged the individual resisted arrest and attempted to strike a member of the CPS. The warrant was executed, the individual was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Shaine Robertson, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged on Aug. 13, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. It is also alleged on Aug. 22, 2024, the man was again scheduled to appear in court and failed to do so. A second warrant was issued for his arrest. On Sept. 5, 2024, the man was located by police while they were on general patrol. The warrants were executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Joanne Cuerrier, 55, of Alexandria, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, and charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on Sept. 5, 2024, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was released to appear in court on Oct. 17, 2024.
