ASSAULT, UTTERING THREATS, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Criminal harassment - repeatedly follow
  • Criminal harassment - repeatedly communicate

It is alleged on Sept. 5, 2024, the youth assaulted an individual known to him at school. It is also alleged on this date, the youth harassed the individual by following home and repeatedly yelling threats at him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 10, 2024, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Sept. 5, 2024, the youth assaulted an individual known to him at school. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 10, 2024, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Patrick Joanette, 33, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on July 30, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Sept. 10, 2024, the man was located by police who were on pro-active patrol. The warrant was executed and the man was held for a bail hearing.

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE, FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Matthew MacWhirter, 39, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, and charged with robbery with violence and fraud over $5,000. It is alleged on March 1, 2024, the man assaulted and robbed an individual known to him. Furthermore, it is alleged the man used the individual’s credit card to defraud him of funds exceeding $5,000. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 10, 2024, the man was located by police who were on pro-active patrol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, and charged with three counts of fail to comply with probation order. It is alleged on June 13, 2024, and June 14, 2024, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not be within 100 metres of any place his ex-spouse is known to live, work or frequent and to not contact or communicate with his ex-spouse. It is alleged June 13, 2024, the man communicated with his ex-spouse and on June 14, 2024, it is alleged he was within 100 metres of his ex-spouse’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 10, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Oct. 17, 2024.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Kingston, ON, man was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, and charged with mischief under $5,000. It is alleged on Sept. 1, 2024, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and damaged her property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 10, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Oct. 8, 2024. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Marcel Gauvreau, 53, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 30, 2021, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Sept. 10, 2024, the man was taken into custody by a member of the OPP and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court on Oct. 17, 2024.
