ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – an 18-year-old was arrested on December 23rd, 2022, and charged with assault. It is alleged that on July 16th, 2022, the young person assaulted another person known to them. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 23rd, 2022, the individual attended Police Headquarters to address the matter. The individual was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in custody at a later date. The individual’s name was not released as they were under the age of 18 at the time of the offence – as per the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old man of Toronto, was arrested on December 23rd, 2022, and charged with assault and mischief under $5000. It is alleged that on December 23rd, 2022, the man assaulted his ex-common-law partner with hot food and damaged to her property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED, BREACH OF RELEASE ORDER

Cornwall, ON – Whitney Thompson, 34, of Hogansburg, New York, was arrested on December 23rd, 2022, and charged with prohibited operation of a motor vehicle and breach of release order. It is alleged that on December 23rd, 2022, the woman was bound by a driving prohibition with the relevant condition to not operate a motor vehicle, it is also alleged she was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not operate a motor vehicle. On this date, the woman attended the Port of Entry by and was taken into custody by the Border Service Officers for operating a motor vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was taken into police custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on January 31st, 2023.

ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old man was arrested on December 23rd, 2022, and charged with assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on December 23rd, 2022, the man choked his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

BREACH OF PROBATION, UNLAWFULLY IN A DWELLING, POSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, PROCEEDS OF CRIME

Cornwall, ON -  Tina Benedict, 58, of Akwesasne, was arrested on December 24th, 2022, and charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and breach of probation. It is alleged that on December 24th, 2022, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. On this date, it is alleged that the woman attended another person’s residence and refused to leave. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, police located a quantity of a scheduled substance believed to be cocaine and Canadian currency believed be used in the trafficking of the scheduled substance. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – Russell David, 44, of Cornwall, was arrested on December 24th, 2022, and charged with assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on December 24th, 2022, the man assaulted another person with a frying pan. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on January 31st, 2023.  

BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – Jacob Benoit, 23, of Cornwall, was arrested on December 24th, 2022, and charged with two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on December 24th, 2022, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a Second Street Business. On this date, it is alleged that the man attended the business he was prohibited from and was taken into custody by the store’s Loss Prevention Investigator. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on January 26th, 2023.

DOMESTIC HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on December 24th, 2022, and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged that between the August 23rd, and December 24th, 2022, the man repeatedly communicated with his ex-girlfriend and attended her places or work and recreation. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on January 24th, 2023. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – Roxanne Cook, 35, of Ottawa, was arrested on December 24th, 2022, and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation. It is alleged that on December 24th, 2022, the woman attended a Ninth Street Business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for it. She was taken into custody by the store’s Loss Prevention Investigator. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 31st, 2023.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on December 26th, 2022, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged that between the 18th and 25th of June, 2021, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report and sign in with the Cornwall Police Service and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest.  It is also alleged that on April 13th, 2022, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact his ex-girlfriend. On this date, the male attempted to contact her on two separate occasions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 26th, 2022, the man was located, the warrants were executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

WARRANTS, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on December 26th, 2022, and the strength of outstanding warrants and charged with breach of probation, assault, and mischief. It is alleged that on May 17th, 2022, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace an be of good behaviour. On this date, it is alleged that the man pushed his girlfriend, attempted to hit her with a bottle, and damaged property in her residence. It is also alleged that on May 20th, 2022, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. On this date, the man struck his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Furthermore, it is alleged that on July 26th, 2022, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. It is also alleged that on December 26th, 2022, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on this date, he damaged his girlfriend’s property and threw her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The warrants were executed, he was charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old woman of Cornwall was arrested on December 26th, 2022, and charged with assault. It is alleged that on December 26th, 2022, the woman struck her boyfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on January 20th, 2023. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

SHOPLIFTING, WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Aimee Parry, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on December 27th, 2022, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on December 17th, 2022, the woman attended a Ninth Street Business, selected merchandise, and left without making an attempt to pay for it. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Furthermore, it is alleged that on December 22nd, 2022, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On December 27th, 2022, the woman was located, the warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
