POLICE OPERATION LEADS TO SEIZURE OF LOADED HANDGUN AND OVER $32,000 IN ILLICIT DRUGS AND CURRENCY

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 16th, 2022 and charged with the following:

  • Assault x 3
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Cruelty to animals
  • Forcible confinement x 2
  • Robbery with theft
  • Sexual assault
  • Theft under $5000 x 2
  • Uttering threats x 4
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Obstruct police

It is alleged between June and September 2022, the man assaulted a woman known to him on multiple occasions, prevented her from leaving her residence, as well as took money and a phone belonging to the victim. It is further alleged the man sexually assaulted her and made threats to kill the woman, her relative, and her dogs. On one occasion, the man is alleged to have assaulted a dog. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On September 16th, 2022, police executed a search warrant at the man’s residence and located a loaded handgun, as well as a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, at which time was found to be in possession of quantity of cocaine, as well as American and Canadian currency.  He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

The total estimated value of drugs and currency seized is approximately $32,000.00.

The name of the man was not released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 19th, 2022 and charged with failing to attend fingerprints. He was also charged with breach of undertaking for failing to notify a change of address, as well as breach of probation for contacting his ex-girlfriend, attending her residence and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on August 25th, 2022, the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and an investigation ensued. It is further alleged on September 17th, 2022, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and police were contacted. On September 19th, 2022, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on September 19th, 2022 and charged with domestic mischief. It is alleged during an altercation with her boyfriend, the woman damaged his bicycle and police were contacted to investigate. On September 19th, 2022, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 25th, 2022. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
