JOINT-FORCE OPERATION ANTAGONIST CONTINUES TO TARGET OPIOID TRAFFICKING IN THE CITY OF CORNWALL

Cornwall, ON - As a result of an ongoing investigation into opioid trafficking by the Cornwall Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police Joint Street Level Enforcement Team, one individual has been taken into custody through Joint-Force Operation Antagonist.

On April 13th, 2022, members of the Street Level Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a Lochiel Street residence, in addition to two vehicles. During the search, police located a quantity of Fentanyl, Hydromorphone, Morphine, Cocaine, and a quantity of Canadian currency. The estimated value of the seized drugs is approximately $2335.00.

During the investigation, Dominique Bourget, 41, of Cornwall was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance of the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance of the purpose of trafficking – Hydromorphone
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance of the purpose of trafficking – Morphine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance of the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

He was released to appear in court on June 23rd, 2022.

The CPS and OPP are working diligently to combat drug trafficking within the City of Cornwall and surrounding areas and would like to remind residents about the dangers of using and selling illicit drugs. BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 52-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 13th, 2022 and charged with two counts of breach of probation for contacting her ex-girlfriend and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 11th, 2022, the woman contacted her ex-girlfriend, despite the conditions of her probation order. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 13th, 2022, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 21st, 2022. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jason Tyo, 42, of Bainsville was arrested on April 13th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on May 11th, 2021, the man pretended to be someone known to him and made a quantity of purchases at a local business, which were subsequently charged to the victim’s account. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 13th, 2022, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant during a traffic stop. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on June 21st, 2022.

TWO ARRESTED IN SHOPLIFTING INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – Nathalie Matte, 47, and Scott Campbell, 39, both of Cornwall were arrested on April 13th, 2022 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on April 13th, 2022, the individuals attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as they left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the parties were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 21st, 2022.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Kathleen David, 52, of St. Regis, QC was arrested on April 13th, 2022 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on April 13th, 2022, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 23rd, 2022.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Cara Arial, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on April 13th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on March 1st, 2022, the woman failed to attend court for a fail to stop after an accident offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On April 13th, 2022, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Eric Desroches, 68, of Cornwall was arrested on April 13th, 2022 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on April 13th, 2022, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 21st, 2022.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 13th, 2022 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on April 5th, 2022, the youth assaulted his ex-girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. On April 13th, 2022, the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
