Part-Time Court Security - Special Constable

The Cornwall Police Service has identified a need for Part-Time Court Security - Special Constable(s) in the Court Bureau.
The Court Security - Special Constable provides court security at the various court locations within the City of Cornwall. Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing security to court and escort services, managing court documents, scheduling trial dates for police officers, preparing supporting documents, serving subpoenas and summonses. This position reports directly to the Court Security Supervisor.
The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate above average skills & abilities in the following areas:
- Minimum grade 12 education (or equivalent), law & security post-secondary graduate is considered an asset
- Previous police/security experience is considered an asset
- Must hold a Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate
- Flexibility to work outside a regular work schedule
- Valid Driver’s License (minimum Class G) with full privileges
- Physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position (must pass a fitness assessment and psychological testing)
- Multitask and work effectively in a team environment and/or alone while under considerable pressure
- Ability to take initiative and address issues before they develop into potential problems
- Bilingualism is considered an asset
Part-time positions are used to supplement full-time positions. The successful applicant will be expected to work a variety of shifts and be available for call-ins.
